Contradiction: Israel, Gaza, Golan Heights and Hamas

Many people agree that the story of the Gaza war is lengthy and heartbreaking. The Ottoman Empire came to an end after World War I. In that era, huge numbers of Jewish immigrants settled in Palestine. In 1948, after Israel’s establishment, an Arab-Israeli war began. Following that, the Egyptian administration took control of Gaza. In 1967, the Six-Day War indicated a turning point in the Arab-Israeli dispute. In 1982, Israel withdrew from the Sinai. It stayed under Israeli control. Gaza’s fate remained puzzling due to limited self-governance. In 2005, Israel retained control over Gaza’s border. After legislative elections in 2006, Hamas seized power in Gaza in 2007. George Orwell’s “Homage to Catalonia” experiences during the Spanish Civil War mirror those of the Israeli-Hamas conflict.

The Ideological Struggle & Guerrilla Warfare

Gaza and the Spanish Civil War have conflict associated with nationalism. Spanish Civil War to some extent is communism, but Hamas is Zionism. They both have self-determination. In the Spanish Civil War, the Republican forces fought in defiance of Nationalist forces, but in the Gaza War, the Palestinian people fought in defiance of the Israeli military. Guerrilla warfare Spanish Civil War (1936-1939) as we know, the Republicans leveraged guerrilla warfare. They subterfuge raids, hit-and-run attacks, sabotage, and ambushes. Guerrilla warfare helped to weaken nationalist control in rural areas and disrupt nationalist communication.

Gaza war (2008 and prolonged)

Hamas employed guerrilla warfare, also known as the Palestine Islamic jihad (PIJ). They employ tactics such as sniping, IEDs (improvised explosive devices), tunnel warfare, rocket attacks, and ambushes. Guerrilla warfare poses a significant threat to the lives of Israeli civilians. They sanctioned militants to resist Israelis. They have used guerrilla warfare to harness terrain and sustain low-intensity attacks. Impact on the populace: In the Spanish Civil War, they forced people to leave their houses. There was a shortage of food and water. They forced civilians to work in a hazardous environment. They imprisoned thousands of civilians. Similar to the Spanish Civil War, Gaza’s children, women, and a significant number of people have suffered fatalities and injuries. All projects have been destroyed. The ongoing conditions caused deep-seated trauma. Both wars involve barbaric violence against citizens. The war’s consequences included injury and death.

Foreign involvement

In the Spanish Civil War, volunteers sponsored Mexico. Nazi Germany, fascist Italy, and the Soviet Union were all involved. Republicans were supported by appreciative figures such as Earnest Hemingway, Joseph Stalin, Adolf Hitler, and Benito Mussolini. Iran, Qatar, and Turkey support Hamas in the Israeli-Hamas conflict. Egypt has a multifaceted bond with Hamas, sometimes facilitating peace settlement and sometimes setting boundaries. The United Nations simply provides humanitarian assistance. Noble figures such as Khaled Mashal, Mahmoud Abbas, and Benjamin Netanyahu played a significant role in their defeat.

Golan Height Attack

Israel, Lebanon, Syria, and Jordan are present at the Golan Heights. In 1967, during the Six-Day War, Israel seized the Golan Heights from Syria. This area has cultural and historical value. On Saturday evening, July 27, an explosion happened in a field in Majdal Shams. This disaster claimed the lives of 12 children and young adults. In October, the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah intensified. It led to tragic losses and ruined everything. The region of Israel has been assigned duty for raids by Hezbollah. Israel said that Hezbollah dismissed rockets from southern Lebanon, a short distance from the Israeli border. The United Nations declared that Hezbollah was responsible for the attack, but Hezbollah denied any involvement in the attacks.

Hezbollah, Israel’s northern neighbor, is known for its heavily armed militant groups. A political campaign is currently underway in Lebanon. They attack with drones that can handle up to 200,000 missiles. Hezbollah provided financing, equipment, and training to a Shia Islamist organization. Hezbollah is opposed to Israel’s survival. Hezbollah’s primary goal is the destruction of Israel. Its standpoint. It views itself as an illegal force in the region, collaborator with Hamas and Palestinians. They dispute Israel’s right to survive as a country. They oppose Israel’s existence as a sovereign state and diligently support the Palestinian cause. Western nations, Israel, and some Arab states have assessed Hezbollah as a terrorist group.

Is War Between Hezbollah And Israel A Probability?

Mideast tensions, especially with Iran, can flare up into an extended conflict. It’s a complex challenge when Hezbollah goes to war with Israel. Both Hezbollah and Israel thoroughly evaluate the pros and cons of going to war, recognizing each other’s strengths and weaknesses. Small-scale conflicts, events, or deliberate provocations along the border could spark a wider conflict, regional power can guide the scales toward or away from conflict.

What is Golan Heights, and why is Israel there?

Golan Heights, in Syria, is a hilltop plateau. Israel seized 460 square miles of the Golan Heights from Syria. In 1981, Israel approved the Golan Heights Law. UN resolutions, violations of international law, and a lack of sovereignty have prevented this movement from establishing itself.  Syrian petitions and peace negotiations. In 2019, the Trump administration smashed decades of US policy by realizing Israeli supremacy over Golan Heights. Two core polemic disputes between Syria and Israel were historical ownership, laws, and recovery vows. Security vs. sovereignty and competing claims are pivotal issues. Approximately 20,000 Jewish pioneers live in Golan Heights. Their primary goal is to aid Israeli military surveillance and expand Israeli control.

 Who are Druze?

They are a fascinating community. In the Middle East, Druze are religious people. They live in Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, and Israel. Druze are Arabic-speaking. They believe in Christianity, Greek philosophy, and a rare blend of Islam and Gnosticism. Majdal Shams is the chief Druze-majority town. It has a population of approximately 90%. It fell under Israeli occupation in 1967.However, they retained their allegiance to Syria. About 20% inherited Israeli citizenship. Approximately 110,000 Druze are a full Israeli community, and Israeli Defense forcefully served them. Their culture is an amalgamation of Arab, Mediterranean, and Middle Eastern. They prioritized charity, nature love, and social bonds. They have a rich cultural heritage. Festival celebrations, pilgrimages to holy sites, and the study of sacred texts are some of the rare traditions of the Druze people.

Lebanon (30% inhabitants)

Israel (2% inhabitants)

Their main beliefs are about reincarnation and one God. Their faith was initiated by Shia Islam, but they modernized their own beliefs.

Why might Hezbollah have fixed at Golan Height?

Hezbollah launched an attack on Israel to support the Palestinians, following Hamas’s attack from a different direction. They are striving to show harmony and stand up for Palestinians. The ongoing dispute between Israel and Hezbollah has forced thousands of people in both countries to flee their homes in search of a safe haven. A rocket attack claimed the lives of some children. This took place after Israel killed Hezbollah fighters. It’s like an exchange of blows. Hezbollah is targeting Israeli military sites around Sheeba Farm, which is close to Majdal Shams. Hezbollah may believe that attacking the Golan Heights won’t put them in danger. Their main goal is to maintain pressure on Israel, lessen international backlash, and exploit the situation. They are avoiding a strong international condemnation.

What has it all got to do with Hamas and the war in Gaza?

Hamas and Hezbollah have been fighting a war against Israel since October 7. During that period, Hamas launched a swift raid on Israel, killing over 1,200 people, capturing 251 others, and holding Gazans as prisoners. Hezbollah is now reinforcing Hamas in this conflict by striking Israel from an alternative path. The day following Hamas’ attack on Israel, Hezbollah joined the fray by establishing a new warzone in northern Israel. Since then, Hezbollah and Israel have been engaging in back-and-forth attacks, with each side firing at the other. Iran supports two parties: Hamas and Hezbollah. These groups are part of Iran’s “axis of rotation”. Israel is the United States. Hezbollah has not secured Gaza, but it has bombarded Israel from the north. Hezbollah has pledged to stop attacking Israel if Israel and Hamas assent to a cease-fire.
